SET E TRINTA MEETING 2012 - APRIL 17 - TUESDAY
The second day of SET e Trinta lectures was quite busy and full of participants who like toget up early. After the opening ceremony performed by Emerson Weirich (SET / EBC) and Fred Rheme (SET / RPC), the first speaker, Armando Ishimaru (LEADER) developed the theme "THE EFFECT OF IMPROPER EXPOSURE & COLOR VIOLATIONS ON FINAL PICTURE QUALITY." He began with a brief history of the Leader, which was founded in 1954 and was the first company to launch an HD-SDI waveform, in 1996, and the first waveform on LCD. He said, beginning his lecture, the idea, at first, is maximizing the benefits and minimize costs. One of maximization of equipment was the leader in dynamic range, through the introduction of specifically designed equipment; such is the evaluators of Lip sync and loudness. He said we would be surprised at how images are mistreated and squeezed through the ether (or cable or satellite) on the path to television sets. From production to post production, distribution and transmission / reception, the digital signal degrades into bits of resolution - not due to the noise, but, because of the limitations of the final transmission. The lack of details in the shadow areas has like a result a terrible video, since the reduction of bits and the MPEG compression is applied. As a result, unless the production techniques are perfect, may there be debilitating effects on the public that will watch. The solution would be based on: (a) educating the operator about possible adjustments in their areas and (b) developing tools easy to use and intuitive. It is essential the use of test instruments for each part of the chain, starting from the ISDB-TB receivers of TV tuners to the support to the operations of the studio, with specific features of friendly operating created with engineers and operators in mind - easier to understand and make adjustments to deliver a perfect video ...
Then it was the time of Leonel da Luz (Harris) talk about "TRENDS FOR INTEGRATION AND EDITING AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT IN ENVIRONMENT JOURNALISTIC”.
The daily production of a newscast needs some applications and technologies enabling the production and exhibition of materials quickly and efficiently. The management of digital content systems supports these operations working within various workflows in multimedia and multiplatform environment. The evolution of the system must be provided by a flexible solution, integrated and scalable. We will present the trends of the junction between edition and management content in digital television news environment. Leonel spoke about the challenges for the production of journalistic content, their needs, the involvement of teams, repetitive manual processes, and the reuse of material needs, the federative need and management user rights. He also spoke about the importance of integration between content management and edition and how to qualify integration, considering own content, the level (languages and processes of high and low level), the directionality of the process (bi or unidiretional) and the temporality (real time or batch). He spoke about the applications which make editing systems and the content management, all integrated into the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture).
After the second lecture, Raymundo Barros (SET / TV Globo), as moderator, opened the first SET e Trinta 2012 Technology Forum. The theme was " HDTV BEYOND: WHAT IS THE NEXT ATTRACTION? HOW AND WHEN THIS NEW TV GENERATION WILL ARRIVE IN OUR HOUSE?
Speakers Hans Hoffmann (EBU), Hugo Gaggioni (Sony), Larry Thorpe (Canon) and Yoshiaki Shishikui (STRL / NHK) developed the theme. The evolution of TV does not end in HTVD. The 4K technologies of cameras and projectors have mastered the production of the film. 4K monitors were presented at CES2012 and some broadcasters have begun to carry out tests and demonstrations in this technology. The UHDTV research continues in Japan with the aim of becoming the TV for the Japanese on the next decade. What is the status of these technologies in the world?
The panel began with a lecture by Hans Hoffmann (EBU) that had defined characteristics, HDTV definitions and HD technical parameters.
The second speaker, Hugo Gaggioni, got caught on technological differences of equipments for 2K and 4K, showing the evolution of the cameras and the sensors structure of images.
The third speaker, and Yoshiaki Shishikui (NHK) , did a retrospective about the UHDTV system that the Japanese government has been developing for years. It showed the evolution of equipment such as cameras, projectors, recorders, audio systems and transmitters, all of them between the third and the fourth technological generation.
The fourth and last lecture of the day was provided by ,Larry Thorpe (Canon) that emphasized aspects related to the cameras and lenses, showing a brief historical about their evolutions, color systems and its significance for todays television systems.
At the end of the cycle, Raymundo opened a fast session of questions, because the time was already well advanced.
At the end, the party of gifts offered by the sponsors of the event.
